Permanent load-bearing fixings without structural deformation
In the final stages of sheet metal work, creating high-strength threads and mounting points for electronics, enclosures or assembly hardware is critical. Spike uses dedicated insertion presses and advanced stud welding systems to install a wide range of permanent male and female fasteners — including self-clinching nuts (PEMs), weld studs, standoffs and bushings — with exact dimensional accuracy. By engineering the hole tolerance precisely at the laser cutting stage, our hydraulic insertion presses apply parallel compressive force to seat the fastener permanently into the metal. This guarantees maximum torque resistance while preserving the flatness of the sheet.

Ideal for thin sheet that needs high-strength threads. Under controlled hydraulic pressure, the sheet material cold-flows into the undercut of the fastener and forms a permanent mechanical lock. These fasteners become an integral part of the structure and speed up final assembly.
For applications needing structural, vibration-resistant fixings heavier than standard clinch fasteners, we use capacitor discharge (CD) welding. Using a dedicated welding gun, this process fuses threaded studs to the metal surface in milliseconds — with no pre-drilled hole, no thermal distortion and no mark on the reverse face.
